Shibayama Masaya (柴山正弥) who live in Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture - the place that famous for its unglazed ceramics and teapots for green tea. The bowl was made of fine clay and has some small pinholes on the body. Chawan is decorated with fine inscribed calligraphy. Such bowl will be a pearl in a connoisseur's collection. Chawan comes with original wooden box Tomobako and protective paper cloth. The potter's seal Masaya (正弥) is stamped in the bottom of the bowl, on the lid of the box and on the cloth.
Some milestones in the pottery career of Shibayama-san:
1990 he was in charge of producing earthenware, trays, bottles, sake cups, etc. used for Daijosai (大嘗祭) - the third and last rite of passage of the new emperor to the throne and the coronation ceremony.
1994 certified by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry as a Tokoname ware traditional craftsman
1995 Aichi Governor's Award (excellent craftsman of traditional crafts)
